The Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) is a non-profit organization that brings together biotechnology associations from across Asia to promote the development and growth of the biotechnology industry in the region. Established in 2004, FABA serves as a platform for its member organizations to exchange ideas, share best practices, and collaborate on initiatives that drive innovation and progress in biotechnology.

2. 5th International Conference on Biotechnology in Health and Agriculture - Bangladesh
Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) is pleased to associate with Global Network of Bangladeshi Biotechnologists (GNOBB) for its 5th International Conference on Biotechnology in Health and Agriculture (ICBHA) along with the Bangladesh Biosafety and Biosecurity Society (BBBS). The Conference is to be held from September 1 through 3, 2023. The first two days of the conference will be on the current status of Biotechnology in Health and Agriculture with an emphasis on Biosafety and Biosecurity in Biotechnology Applications. The third day of the conference will be dedicated to discussions on the containment of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The goal of this Conference is to build capacity and create awareness of the latest trends in biotechnology for improving health, agriculture, and the environment in Bangladesh. At the same time, it is intended to create awareness regarding Biosafety and Biosecurity in different areas of Biotechnology.
A number of pre-conference training workshops in the field of biotechnology, biosafety, biosecurity, and strengthening lab capacity will be organized in the month of August 2023 and to coincide with the beginning to end of the 5th ICBHA conference.
We cordially invites the participation of scientists, researchers, educators, students, policymakers, businesspersons, product developers, or manufacturers working in the field of agriculture, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, biotechnology, botany, environmental sciences, food sciences, genetics and genomics, medical sciences, microbiology, zoology, or any other branches of biological sciences.
3. FABA Friday Presents: "Goal Setting and Mastery: What, Why & How?”
FABA Fridays, an initiative by FABA is where individuals could come together to enhance their cognitive, social, and behavioral skills, empowering them in both their personal and professional lives.
Every week, FABA Fridays brings together curious minds to explore a wide range of topics, from the art of CV writing and captivating presentations to mastering effective communication and time management.

4. Collaborative Success: Highlights from Recent Workshops and Partnered Events
Biorisk Management Workshop for Research Institutions with BSL-3 Laboratories
The online workshop on Biorisk Management for Research Institutions with BSL-3 Laboratories was a collaborative effort between Health Security Partners (HSP) and the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA). The workshop aimed to enhance the understanding and implementation of effective biorisk management practices in research institutions working with BSL-3 laboratories. The virtual format allowed participants from various institutions and regions to come together and foster collaboration, especially in the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The workshop began with opening remarks by Prof. Pallu Reddanna, Executive President, FABA; Dr. Harinarayana Rao, EC Member, FABA, and Dr. Prasad Kuduvalli, Director, Scientific Programs, HSP and Jennifer Nguyen, PhD - CTR Program Manager/GDIT Contractor from U.S. Department of State. These remarks set the tone for the workshop and highlighted the importance of the topics being discussed.
The keynote was given by High Containment Laboratories establishment in Biomedical field: Journey in Short from Concept to Execution Phase by Dr. D. T. Mourya, Former Director National Institute of Virology, India.

Overall, the workshop provided a comprehensive and in-depth exploration of the convergence of cyber and biological sciences, with a focus on biosafety, biosecurity, and cybersecurity. It offered a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration among professionals in the field. The workshop was a resounding success in its objectives of addressing current and future risks associated with the convergence of cyber and biological sciences and promoting best practices in biorisk management.
3rd edition of the India Biopharma Leaders Conclave
FABA proudly served as a knowledge partner in the 3rd edition of the India Biopharma Leaders Conclave, organized by BlueTech Media. The event took place on May 30th and 31st, and FABA actively participated in various activities and discussions during this prestigious event. Dr. Uday Saxena, FABA's Executive Secretary, FABA delivered a keynote address on "Innovations in Biopharma - is India ready?" Other notable discussions included a panel on the evolving role of Q&A and Q&C in the biopharma industry moderated by Dr. Sandhya Kumaraswamy from CRAMbridge. Nalam Rao, CEO of AIC - CCMB, EC Member, FABA, spoke about the potential of startups in industry-academia technology transfers. Dr. Ranjan Chakrabarti, Advisor at C-CAMP, EC Member, FABA discussed nurturing biopharma startups for innovation and affordable medicines. A panel discussion explored the role of digital transformation in advancing precision medicine and collaboration between industry, academia, and regulatory bodies.
We are also delighted to announce its participation in the upcoming 2nd Edition of India Vaccine Leaders Conclave (IVLC) as a knowledge partner. The event will take place on August 22nd and 23rd, 2023, at the Hotel Courtyard By Marriott in Mumbai. As the theme is “Building Resilient Vaccine Ecosystems,” the event will bring together key stakeholders in the field of vaccines to discuss critical challenges related to vaccine development, distribution, and public health strategies. The event will also include Biopharma Awards: Exemplars of Excellence in the evening of August 23rd.
